Talk: Kids, Coding and You: How to get involved

We have some significant issues in tech, such as the (near constant) skills shortage and lack of women. The science says the cause for this starts early on, when people young.

I saw this first hand, over four years ago, when my daughter wanted to join the local coding club but was afraid of being bullied. I stepped in to run that club and created a fun, inclusive environment. Fast forward to today and I now fun two Coding Clubs a week.

I've learnt a lot over the years. I want to show you how you can use your skills, knowledge and experience to make a difference in the life of children.

I want to explain * how to be a role model, mentor and teacher * how to approach the various ages groups and varying levels of involvement, from one-off to recurring * What tools and languages work best across the various age groups and levels of involvement * how to get your coworkers and employer involved * and more.

Whether you have children of your own or want to get involved in the community, this session is for you. Come along and I'll show you how to make a difference to the next generation!.
